Healthy Schools and Policy Development

John with studentsDuring 2008 and 2009 John has worked with the Gloucestershire Healthy Schools Team to successfully support schools policy and and practice to enable them to achieve National Healthy Schools status.

In 2009 John has worked with the Tower Hamlets Extended Services Team to support schools’ policy development and practice by drafting borough guidance in Healthy Eating and Physical Activity.

John has been working with the Swindon Healthy Schools Team supporting a review of Sex and Relationships Education in schools, colleges and EOTAS with a report written to the Teenage Pregnancy team to improve practice.

During 2006 and 2007 John worked with the Hull Healthy Schools Team to successfully support schools’ policy development and practice to enable them to achieve National Healthy Schools status.

Working with both new and experienced individuals and existing ‘healthy schools’, John has also been part of the monitoring & assessment team to ensure the highest standards of PSHE provision.

Aspects of the Healthy Schools work that John has supported also involved supporting policy development and practice improvement with individual schools to provide guidance on:

  • Drug education & drug related incidents

This work has also involved writing confidential “schools’ achievement and standards service records”.
